As was done every week, a small group
of robots gathered together in order to play a game of
poker. Most of the time, it was a friendly game
but there were some times when they decided that the
ante was going to be upped to a certain extent. For
this week, it was decided that there was going to be a
maximum raise limit of 500 bolts, an enormous amount,
considering this group of robots barely earned that in a
week. Suddenly, the friendly game became a little bit
more serious and the Terminator 3000 decided to take
advantage of it.
I don't need to tell you exactly how much IQ is floating
around at a table full of robots. Even though many of
these were only designed in order to do manual jobs,
they were still designed with an IQ in the hundreds of
thousands each. You would've thought that one of them
would've picked up on the fact that the Terminator
decided it was time to stack the deck a little bit in
his favor. Unfortunately, things had to got out of hand
before it finally came crashing to an end.
As was customary, the deck of cards was passed around
the table and each robot took their turn in dealing them
out to the other players. Every time T300 dealt the
cards, he would end up with a winning hand that was
almost unbelievable. It usually contain at least four
of a kind, sometimes even a royal flush. It seems that
his mental algorithm did not account for the fact that
he could also stack the deck to where others would get
poor hands, he was only thinking in one dimension,
stacking his own cards in his favor.
XR419 was the first to notice the fact that he was
stacking the cards in this way. At first, he thought
that he was adding new cards into the deck so he
silently burnt impressions into the deck of cards with
his laser vision. Mr. Roboto was the second pick up on
the cheating, but he was not quite as subtle as XR419.
Suddenly, Mr. Roboto lept to his feet with a metallic
thud, his chair flying across the room behind him. The
Terminator looked at him behind his dark glasses, almost
as if to challenge him to do something. What took place
after that is almost indescribable. In a blur of
metallic appendages, the entire room was turned into a
vortex, sucking chairs, robots and poker chips into the
middle.
By the time the smoke cleared, the poker chips had been
mixed up so much that nobody had any idea who had what,
so it was all reduced to what they had entered with.
The Terminator was banned for two weeks from playing
these games again but as he walked out of the room, he
turned around and gave his often heard motto, "I'll be
back".
